Volunteers

Many volunteers come to work with the llamas. Utah Valley Llamas have more on-hands training and interaction with the public than any other llamas we know of. Mondays since 2002, the youth from Lightning Peak come in the afternoons and work with the llamas on the obstacle course and take them for walks, often with packs on their backs. Thursdays since 2004 the boys and their counselor, Chelsea, from Journey, spend four hours on the property, divided between farm work and working directly with the llamas, sometimes taking them out for short walks in Payson Canyon.  Many groups of missionaries have volunteered time to help out with chores and training of the animals. Prospective lllama owners have come on many occasions to work on the farm and get a feel for the animals.

The annual Llama Fest  (since 1995) is made possible by the efforts of an estimated 100 volunteers. Some of the volunteers at Llama fest have been coming for so many years they know the jobs better than Chris & Christine, the owners and organizers.

Utah Valley Llamas have participated with a dozen llamas in the mamouth Provo Freedom Festival Parade since 1990. Other regular parades entered are Spanish Fork Fiesta Days, and Salem Days. In each case it's only possible to make a good showing in these parades with the extra help of many volunteers to lead the animals.
